Just a short two-minute walk from the back deck, a wide gravel path gently winds through the forest toward TUSQUITTEE Creekside, our private stretch of Holden Creek and one of the most beloved places on the property.

Along the way, you'll pass through a towering bamboo grove that stops nearly everyone in their tracks. With stalks soaring high above and leaves whispering in the breeze, this unexpected natural wonder adds a touch of magic to the journey.

At the end of the trail, the forest opens to reveal TUSQUITTEE Creekside. Here, knee-deep mountain water flows beneath a canopy of hardwoods, creating the perfect place to splash, toss sticks for the dogs, cool your feet, or simply sit and listen to the sounds of moving water. Nearby, a creekside fire pit invites guests to slow down, share stories, and enjoy the simple rhythm of the mountains.

Meandering paths cover nearly half a mile through the woods and around the grounds, ideal for forest bathing, birdwatching, and peaceful walks beneath the trees. Along the way, keep an eye out for our historic marker tree — a centuries-old bent hardwood that may have once guided travelers toward water, gathering places, or sacred destinations.

We named this special place TUSQUITTEE, inspired by Appalachian Cherokee folklore describing a place "where water dogs laughed." Today, it remains one of our favorite places at Sacred Waters — a peaceful creekside refuge where dogs splash through the shallows, fireflies drift through the trees at dusk, and the sounds of the creek carry away the noise of everyday life.

Some places are built. Others are discovered.
