Pet Friendly Cabin Rental in Ellijay, GA
2+ fenced acres · up to 3 dogs
Sacred Waters is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin in Ellijay, Georgia, on 7 private acres in the North Georgia mountains. It sleeps 4 people and up to 3 dogs.
We're Mary and Tom, and Ted, our Mini Bernedoodle, is our Baby Puppy King. He makes the rules around here, he's a little bossy, and he's ridiculously cute.
We've stayed at plenty of places that called themselves "pet friendly," only to get there and realize there really wasn't anywhere for the dog to just be a dog. That's a big reason we fell in love with Sacred Waters.
The cabin came with more than 2 acres already fenced around the house and front yard, plus a second fenced yard right off the back deck. There's plenty of room to sniff, explore, chase a ball, roll in the grass, and burn off some energy — with room for up to 3 dogs to come along for the adventure.
If you want a dog friendly cabin in Ellijay where your dogs can actually run, here's what you'll find and how our dog rules work.
2+ Fenced Acres for Off-Leash Play
A 4-foot wire fence runs around the home and the front yard, up to a gate at the top of the drive. Inside it is more than 2 acres of soft grass and big trees. Let the dogs out in the morning, take your coffee to the covered front deck, and watch them explore.
Take a walk along the fence line when you arrive, and keep an eye on jumpers, diggers and climbers.
"Our dogs enjoyed the yard and the creek, having 2 acres fenced was an added bonus and we didn't have to worry about them running off." The Roberts Family + Django, Abby & Ellie Mae
A Second Fenced Yard Off the Back Deck
There's also a smaller yard right off the back deck with its own 4-foot chain-link fence. It's handy for a quick late-night potty break, or for keeping the dogs close while you cook on the grill.
"They have a big fenced in front yard that's completely secure so Rusty could run and smell." The Humphrey Family + Rusty, Google review
The Creek, Bamboo Forest and Trails
About a two-minute walk from the back deck, a wide gravel path goes through a tall bamboo grove and down to our private stretch of Holden Creek. We call this spot TUSQUITTEE Creekside. The water is about knee deep, which is just right for dogs who like to splash and chase sticks. There's a fire pit by the creek, too.
Nearly half a mile of walking paths loop through the woods and around the grounds.
The creek, the trails and the bamboo forest are outside the fence. Out there, please keep your dogs on a leash or under voice control.
"Taking our dog on new experiences like exploring the bamboo forest and swimming in the creek made it even more special." Lisa, Chris + Mochi, Airbnb review
Why We Call It TUSQUITTEE Creekside
There's an old Cherokee story from Tusquittee Bald, just over the line in the North Carolina mountains. During a dry summer, a hunter heard voices on the trail. He peeked over a rock and saw two water dogs (the old mountain name for hellbenders, the big salamanders that live in our creeks) walking along on their hind legs. Their pond had dried up, and they were headed to the river. One said, "Where's the water? I'm so thirsty," and they both laughed. The Cherokee named the mountain "Where the water dogs laughed."
We named our creek spot for that story because our own water dogs laugh here too. Once the dogs reach the water, you'll see it on their faces: tails going, splashing after sticks, and big open-mouth grins. It's their favorite part of the stay.
See more of the creek on our Creek page.

Outdoor Living
Our Dog Rules, in Plain Words
Up to 3 dogs. There are no age, weight or breed restrictions.
Dogs only, please. We can't host cats or other pets.
The pet fee is $60 per dog, per stay. Please add your dogs when you book, and the fee will show in your full quote before you pay.
Dogs can be off leash inside the fenced yards. At the creek, on the trails and in the bamboo forest, please keep them on a leash or under voice control.
Dogs can't be left alone in the house unless they're in a kennel.
Please pick up after your dogs everywhere on the property.
Before you leave, please vacuum up dog hair and wipe off paw prints. Extra cleaning fees may apply if a lot of pet cleanup is needed.
A note about our pond: it turns out dogs and kids both lose all sense of reason around it! After a few too many doggy belly flops tore up the liner, we put a little fence around it. Please help us keep the pups out of the pond and the landscaped areas. Thank you!
You'll find all of our house rules on the Policies & FAQs page.
A Note About the Fence
We love that the fenced acres let your dogs run and explore. Every dog is different, though, and we can't know ahead of time who's a jumper, a digger or a clever escape artist. So we can't promise the fence will hold every dog. By bringing your pups, you agree to accept that risk. Please keep an eye on them outside, especially the first day while they're learning the yard. We want everyone going home happy, tails and all.
